Real estate and land law
Land in Cameroon is held under a system of registration, but a large part of it is occupied without a registered title. The difference determines what can be sold, what can be mortgaged and what can be inherited.
Commercial leases are a separate matter and are governed by the OHADA Uniform Act on General Commercial Law, which fixes the tenant's right to renewal and the conditions on which a landlord may refuse it. Those rules cannot be excluded by the lease.
