Barrister Sylvain Oum Enonchong, PhD, heads Enonchong Chambers in Douala. He holds a doctorate in private law, has practiced at the Cameroon Bar since 2015, and has taught law at the University of Buea since 2011.

Practice

He leads a team of ten lawyers from the firm's offices at 305 rue Alfred Saker in Akwa. The practice covers both advisory work and litigation. On the advisory side, it covers commercial contracts and company documents, and ongoing legal counsel to businesses and individuals. On the litigation side, it covers pleadings, motions and briefs, and representation in court.

His own work and his research cover business law and procedural law: maritime law, insurance, alternative dispute resolution, company law, employment law, debt recovery, medical law, security interests and administrative law.

Education

He studied law at the University of Douala, where he earned the Licence, the Maitrise and then the DEA (a post-master's research degree) in business law. He completed his doctoral work at the University of Yaounde II Soa, defending his dissertation in March 2020 for a PhD in private law.

Teaching

He has been a Senior Lecturer at the University of Buea since 2011, teaching law students from the first year through the doctoral level. He is a member of the International Chamber of Commerce.

Born in Libamba on 25 May 1973. He is married and has four children. He works in French and English. Outside the practice he reads law reviews and biographies, follows sports, and travels.
